6th Orogenic Lherzolite Conference, Morocco

This conference was held in Marrakech, Morocco from May 3-17, 2014. Profs. Yang and Robinson, and 4 young scientists from CARMA attended the conference. Field excursions to the Beni Bousera peridotite in Tetouan before the conference and after to the Anti-Atlas (BouAzzer and Sirwa) Pan-African ophiolites and to the mantle xenoliths in Azrou volcanic rocks provided the CARMA members with excellent opportunities to learn about the fascinating geology of Morocco. The meeting lasted four days and dealt with diverse issues including melt-rock reactions in sub-continental lithospheric mantle, subducted terranes, UHP mantle peridotites, volatiles, fluids and melts in the mantle, lithospheric mantle deformation, mantle petrology and dynamics, PGE and sulfide mineralogy and isotope geology.
